Summer Programming at the Travis Mills Foundation

Summer at the Travis Mills Foundation

A lot of exciting things have been going on out at the Travis Mills Foundation Veteran Retreat! Over the course of the season, we have welcomed more than 100 families this year and over 200 families since we first opened!

The Travis Mills Foundation was fortunate to partner with other veteran non-profits to bring participants this year, and we couldn’t be more grateful for the partnerships that we have created with you. We partnered with the Achilles Freedom Team, the Independence Fund, and George W. Bush Presidential Center which included athletes from Team 43!

Last week we were fortunate to have recalibrated veteran families from Team 43! Team 43 are athletes from the George W. Bush Presidential Center. These athletes and their families had the opportunity this week to take advantage of all of the adaptive activities that we have to offer: participating in the high ropes course, kayaking, fly fishing, biking, archery, horseback riding, and much more! Thanks to generous supporters like YOU, we are able to provide these families with an environment that encourages an active and healthy lifestyle.

We have also partnered with many other organizations and local businesses to provide activities on-site, and off-site. Veterans Adaptive Sports and Training has partnered with us for wheelchair basketball at the local YMCA, as well as archery at the retreat. JSB Arts comes to the retreat each week to create and decorate clay tiles as a keepsake.

Yoga classes are offered by the water multiple times by U.S Veteran Mike Keighley. Veteran owned non-profit, Veterans Martial Arts Training offers self-defense classes and other forms of martial arts. Project Healing Waters teaches fly tying and fly fishing to participants and after participants have tied their own fly, they get to go out on the water and catch fish with it!

Waterville Country Club professionals teach participants to golf on the driving range, and then participants take what they’ve learned to the course! At Ballard Farms participants ride horses, paint them, and then take care of the horses.

It takes a village of volunteers, community members, businesses, organizations, our generous supporters, donors, and other non-profits to help make the participants retreat experience extra special.

The Travis Mills Foundation has some exciting events coming up throughout the months of August and September that we would like you to join us at:
