Trident Armory Standby to Fly Raising Funds, Support for TMF

Join the Trident Armory Standby to Fly Benefit Match at Hampden Rifle and Pistol Club, 286 Meadow Road, Saturday, June 3-4.

A raffle for a Traeger Ironwood 885 is currently underway; tickets are $20 and can be purchased HERE. Ticket sales end May 1.

This is the 5th annual event hosted by the Trident Armory Shooting Team, and the non-profit they started called the Standby to Fly Initiative. This event started in 2019 as an opportunity to raise money for Maine-based, veteran- supporting non-profit organizations. They combine the competition shooting sport called United States Practical Shooting Association (USPSA) with raising money for veterans of the United States.

In the last four years the organization has donated more than $150,000 to non-profits, including The Windy Warrior Project, House in the Woods, Maine Veterans Project, The Summit Project, and K9s on the Frontline.

“In 2023, The Travis Mills Foundation is the beneficiary of the event with a goal to raise $100,000,” said Zac Greenier, president and founder of the Standby to Fly Initiative. “Through donations from companies within the state of Maine and across the country, as well as an incredible volunteer network, we hope to reach this astounding goal!”

“We have made it our priority to ensure this is an event for the whole family,” Greenier added.

The event will include food from Hampden VFW and smoked meats donated by local companies, vendors and more than $20,000 in donated items that will be available through a silent auction and raffles.

“Mark your calendars, invite your family and friends, and come join us as we support recalibrated Veterans through the Travis Mills Foundation,” Greenier added.

Additionally, U.S. Army SSG (Ret.) Travis Mills will attend the opening ceremony at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday.

“If you want to meet a truly inspiring individual, and hear his story of heroism and determination, come to the opening ceremony,” Greenier said. “If you want to see some of the best competitors from across the country involved with the action packed sport of USPSA, enjoy some great food, camaraderie, and help us raise money for Veterans, don’t miss this event. We hope to see you on the range!”

The Travis Mills Foundation Veterans Retreat offers our nation’s recalibrated veterans and their families a week-long, barrier free, all-expenses-paid experience at its world-class retreat in the Belgrade Lakes Region of Maine. It offers various programs that help these brave men and women overcome physical and emotional obstacles, strengthen their families, and provide well-deserved rest and relaxation. The Foundation also offers the Warrior PATHH Program (Progressive & Alternative Training for Helping Heroes) for combat veterans and first responders, the nation’s first of its kind program designed to cultivate and facilitate post-traumatic growth.  Learn more >>>
